Surgical Center of Hamden
The 10,000 square foot physician office space and endoscopy center was built in 1998. The founding physicians are dedicated to providing “sophisticated medical care, close to home, in a warm and caring environment”. The emotional and psychological well being of their patients as well as the comfort and convenience of the patients and their families was a priority while designing the spaces.
Focused on a nurturing environment with a series of transitional spaces between the patient entry and the exam rooms, the space maintains a comfortable “scale” for the patients as well as a high level of patient confidentiality.
A soothing monochromatic color scheme was chosen with special attention to decorative architectural elements such as tray ceilings, chair rails and the use of indirect lighting. Textures were introduced through the use of wall coverings, fabrics, wood and artwork.
A gas fireplace was also installed in the sub-waiting room. Temperature control and audio systems were also a priority for the comfort of the patients.
