Elizabethan Library Garden

The Library Garden formalizes the relationship between the library building and its surroundings, and provides an area for tranquil study in the center of the city. Landscaping within the yard includes a formal croquet court, gazebo, and octagonal Elizabethan knot garden. The yard is accented with boxwoods, holly trees, yews, and perennial beds. Three thousand bulbs were planted, with specific varieties chosen based on 15th century Flemish tapestries.
