Veterans Rally Point Center

Easterseals providing Connecticut Veterans with inviting, new support center

Easterseals Capital Region Eastern Connecticut has selected the Design/Build team of Enterprise Builders and Kenneth Boroson Architects to renovate partially unfinished space to become an important source of Veterans services.

The Veterans Rally Point Service Center is located in Norwich, Connecticut. Funded by Easterseals, this non-profit organization transforms lives by providing employment, behavioral health, and various other social services free of charge to veterans and their immediate families.

The Client desired a state-of-the-art structure which was also warm, comfortable and welcoming, with an abundance of natural light provided by large windows.

Spaces include a community room with full commercial kitchen and a computer center for employment, education, and presentations, as well as a new gymnasium with all new equipment and a rock-climbing wall.

Also provided are a maker space/workshop, food pantry, and behavioral health center, as well as areas for medical exams, occupational therapy, fitness, yoga, and meditation.

A new reception area pays tribute to the six branches of the military and to those who have served.

As a spinoff project, a new flag memorial was created for the lawn area at the northwest corner of the building. Kenneth Boroson Architects provided renderings of the design to the Client to assist fundraising efforts to offset the cost of this modest memorial.

The buildout project was partially funded by a grant from the Connecticut State Bond Commission.
